- mandmandam 5y agoThere are many extraordinarily dickish aspects of the narcissism smear. For one, he deserves praise and a bit of ego, for outstanding service to humanity. Many times over. And he doesn't even actually blow his own horn about it that much - TO be fair, it's hard to, when in prison for revealing embarrassing war crimes. Two, they _really were_ out to get to him, and we know that for a fact. Three - many of the journalists who repeated this smear did so after their media orgs profited from his disclosures; ie, NYT, The Guardian. Four - since Assange is on the ASD spectrum, lay people might actually believe the smear, confusing awkwardness for aloofness. Here's a handy guide to telling the difference between narcissism and ASD - https://www.goodtherapy.org/blog/narcissism-vs-aspergers-how-can-i-tell-the-difference-1114174 https://www.goodtherapy.org/blog/narcissism-vs-aspergers-how... . Reading that, it's abundantly clear why such a calculated smear was employed.
