Uber and Lyft prepare for an epic legal battle
- aurizon 5y agoAn open ride Ap, with state licensed drivers - much like Taxi driver licences, would bring lower passenger risk - akin to the current taxi industry, but at the expense of the Taxi empires = (phone and radio/meter dispatch empires), would allow drivers to carry people and get all the $$, but there would be some low Ap fee. Uber and Lyft now do this, but need to liberate the drivers from control = grab a lot less in fees, but the drivers would gain total contractor independence. Uber and Lyft might be able to do this and bypass the 'aspect of control' that make the drivers employees with deductions etc. Thus each ride would be between passenger and driver with zero control overhead. This would work well in Canada/UK/Europe and most of the world with government medical plans - USA? The radio based empires are an endangered species, but they could fill this need, and get rid of their radio and meter empires,??
