I live in Chandler, in Arizona, where there are Waymos all over the place, and I can tell you that you won't see them on the road in a heavy rain. I've visited New Jersey four times in the past two years and didn't see one, nor did I expect to. Driving conditions in New Jersey, even on a clear sunny day are far different, with roundabouts, turns and merges at weird angles, dips, curves, you name it. I drove through Kansas City back in 2019 and parts of it were a high-speed free for all, with no lane lines either. Given how Waymos move around here I'm thinking they have much more than 1 percent left to go before they can truly say they're self-driving.
