One and only markable difference was the rear axle. In 1970s you had to carry spare axle rod because it will bend and break eventually. In 1986 when I rode coast-to-coast USA I already had better "Shimano"-style cassette in a Russian-made bike. It was was quite remarkable that one and only repair I ever made was to buy new set of tires in Minneapolis.
