Lightweight Golang Web Framework
- debarshri 5y agoJust a feedback as a user, I could not find much information around creating models, how that works. May be it is there, I just couldn't find it. The current setup I use is - 1. go-gin from rest interfaces 2. gorm for ORM and migrations. 3. React frontend compiled into binary with go-bindata 4. Everything can be compiled and delivered as one binary. I find it more easy and flexible than a rails or django like setup. I know it a personal preference, I prefer a library based approach than a framework. Also, You call your web framework lightweight. I am just wondering, what makes it lightweight? From my perspective, it is fully-loaded and looks quiet heavy with all the features and stuff it can do.
- carlosstrand 5y agoHey @debarshri! I appreciate your feedback! Thanks so much! Go-Zepto was designed to be a Full-Stack web framework. So, we can have all ecosystem to create and build web pages. It wraps up assets (JS and CSS), templates, and make you able to create pages quickly. (Blogs, Portals, LandingPages). For microservices, or pure backend applications (when assets and template are not necessary) I would go with go-kit, that is the best option in my opinion. And the "lightweight" is used compared to frameworks from others languages. Thanks so much! I appreciate your feedback.
- debarshri 5y agoThey way people have actually promoted their framework is by building an ancillary project, documentation platform or something which showcases that it is not a toy project. Would love to see if there is something like that you guys are working on or thinking about it. Portal stuff go-gin is really good, it has support for templates too.
