LG been making linear piston compressors for mass market for more than a decade. The true breakthrough here will happen with solid state gas compressors. Solid state compressors already approach, or pass 50% efficiency — something only possible in very large, staged, centrifugal compressors for large AC systems. A solid state compressor, unlike that, will be equally efficient regardless the size.
