Ask HN: Is it worth owning a smart watch
Hello HN,
People who own smart watches is it worth it and has it improved your productivity in general.
I’m planning onto buying an apple watch probably going for SE since its cheaper and affordable.
The biggest reason I want an Apple Watch is to stay away from my phone but remain connected so I don’t miss important calls/texts
- PaulHoule 5y agoI have a Garmin Vivoactive 4S. Primarily I have it to keep the time but I like the heart rate monitor, activity tracking, music, etc. I set timers for pomodoro, making tea, alarms to wake up in the morning. If you want to improve your productivity you should put your phone in the microwave and cook it. - PaulHoule 5y agoI tell the customer support people from Frontier that I don't have a cell phone number they can call me back at because if cell phones worked where I live I wouldn't be a Frontier customer.
- yuppie_scum 5y agoApple Watch is probably ten years ahead of all the competition. It’s just an amazingly slick experience, while still being personalizable. Great fitness tracker as well. I have a 6 but the SE is by all accounts just as capable. The pulse ox sensors etc on the 6 are not really worth the up charge for most users.
- mr_o47 5y agoI see I’m little both models look promising but do you think blood Oxygen sensor useful
- bradknowles 5y agoDuring COVID, I think the pulse ox sensors have been a very unexpected and extremely positive bonus. Worth the money, for that feature alone. Prior to COVID, I would have said that it was just a nice-to-have.
- yuppie_scum 5y agoWhy? If you’re healthy, chances are you’re going to be showing 97+ on the pulsox and if you are having breathing difficulties, you will already know.
