Nothing yet, but next personal computer purchase will almost certainly be system76 or similar. Phone will be non-Apple. I’d like to get my photos out of iCloud but I’ve been trying to move them from Google to Apple for like 2 years and still haven’t finished that lol.
I’ve hidden iMessage on my phone and put Signal on the dock so I use it more.
- istingray 5y agoNice! Yeah it's complicated to switch. I use Protonmail for email. I wrote them to say I would like to see them offer something like iCloud/NextCloud with E2E encryption. Moving off iMessage is the trickiest part of all. Will move my conversations to Signal.
- auslegung 5y agoI use fastmail but I’m guessing proton is more likely to roll out that feature before any other paid email/etc provider. It would be nice :)
- istingray 5y agoI just bought a subscription for Standard Notes [1]. E2E, cloud, and native apps on every major platform. I recommend checking it out: https://standardnotes.com/ https://standardnotes.com/ I dug through ProtonMail's uservoice stuff, lots of random ideas. I'm glad Proton has a good email platform but I don't expect them to conquer the whole iCloud suite anytime soon.
- auslegung 5y agoStandard Notes looks nice but I need it to work with Emacs and org mode. My plan for that is encrypted in Dropbox. Maybe there’s a better solution but idk yet
