In my programming language MethodScript, (which has a handwritten parser), I fail immediately during lexing, (because then that was a really bad error) but during compilation, I only immediately fail on some things that are likely to cause a cascade of errors, such as a missing bracket or something. But yeah, it makes the compiler output way easier to work through when you have everything at once.
