I got myself a minimal second phone yesterday. 10 dollars for 4 months with ~160 minutes. This second phone will always be on loud if anyone actually needs to get a hold of me. Otherwise my phone (as I like to say, "butt computer") will always be on silent. I check it roughly 3 times a day for responses. All other times I pick up my phone it must be with intention. I record myself whenever I pick up the phone without intention or out of curiosity of notifications of new messages. We must create arbitrary rules for ourselves to protect us from society. Then you must keep track of when you break your rules. It doesn't really matter how good or what your rules are. You just need to make them and then create ways to make sure you follow them. After a while you won't need to keep track anymore.
