We should never become jaded to these horrifying stories. Cops assaulting and injuring a woman for no reason at all, and then lying about it. This would not have happened if she were white, but apparently Solano County sheriffs have declared open season on Black people.
- azinman2 5y agoOr these two people did. It’s troubling for sure, but saying Solano County sheriffs have declared open season is a giant leap.
- garyfirestorm 5y agoThese two and the third one who signed the report. And everyone who’s already not taking actions (for eg their superiors). If law enforcement’a job is not uphold the law then what is it? Why haven’t they already arrested the two and filed a complaint themselves (the County Sheriffs) what’s stopping them?
- a3n 5y agoToo lazy to search, but within the last year I remember a series of podcasts exploring systemic racism from a vaguely reputable source (sorry) that at one point cited a (supreme?) court case where it was established that law enforcement actually has no obligation to "serve and protect", and all other expectations that don't follow from that.
- thatswrong0 5y agoIf you think it's just these two people (especially when a superior officer signed off on it), you have a lot to learn about the way policing works in this country.

- Bostonian 5y agoThere are cases of police brutality against whites, and I believe the ratio of black to white murderers (a measure of crime rates) is higher than the ratio of blacks to whites killed by the police.
- sundaeofshock 5y agoNone of your arguments justify police brutality against black people.
- Bostonian 5y agoBecause blacks commit crimes at higher rates than whites, they will be arrested at a higher rate. The more interactions with the police, the more often police will do the wrong thing. To reduce police brutality we need the police to behave better, but we also need less lawlessness.
