Things I have learned from creating my own SaaS
- withinboredom 5y agoI really hate Medium articles on <3G speed. Somewhere in their JS, they have a timeout (instead of relying on the protocol) so you only get to read the first paragraph. I’m sure their internal stats look great, I doubt they have a stat for “never loaded beyond the first paragraph” though.
- eplanit 5y agoI stopped at the "free" paywall.
- jvojak 5y agoSorry guys, new to medium, this should be a friendly link to read everything - https://medium.com/codex/11-things-i-have-learned-from-creating-my-own-saas-bfcc0c212214?sk=97eeffa96939e93689aedf4e107f80a9 https://medium.com/codex/11-things-i-have-learned-from-creat...
- benbristow 5y agoFor those having problems with Medium, archived copy without the clutter - https://archive.ph/5aW7W https://archive.ph/5aW7W
- mring33621 5y agoFuck Medium for making me login to read the story and then, after I logged in, asking me to 'upgrade', in order to read the story.
- SergioCh 5y agoYou can open article links in an incognito window. This way, Medium has no way of knowing who you are or how many articles you've read.
- Jugurtha 5y agoYou can delete the site's cookies and refresh.
- jvojak 5y agomy apologies, I am a bit new to Medium, here's a friendly link that allows you reading everything: https://medium.com/codex/11-things-i-have-learned-from-creating-my-own-saas-bfcc0c212214?sk=97eeffa96939e93689aedf4e107f80a9 https://medium.com/codex/11-things-i-have-learned-from-creat...
- cloogshicer 5y agoPlease just stop publishing things on Medium. It's very hostile towards users. I recommend setting up a static site generator like Hugo (simple) and deploy with something like Netlify (free and quick to setup).
- mycodesucks 5y agoSeconded. I just don't read medium articles anymore, same goes for any site that makes me login. That ain't the internet I want so I don't support it
- smoldesu 5y agoLooks like I'm not allowed to read the rest of your blog-post, sorry. Is there a link to a non-paywalled site?
- jvojak 5y agoOf course, here it is: https://medium.com/codex/11-things-i-have-learned-from-creating-my-own-saas-bfcc0c212214?sk=97eeffa96939e93689aedf4e107f80a9 https://medium.com/codex/11-things-i-have-learned-from-creat... P.S. - New to medium, still figuring things out :)
- nomdep 5y ago12. Don’t put your content marketing behind a paywall
- redhale 5y agoNo offense, but this is the most generic list possible. I feel like I could have written this generic article having no SaaS experience at all. "Do your research", "Limit the MVP to a narrow number of functionalities", "Think about how you will market, promote and sell the product" -- come on. I would be very interested in an article that conveys some new insight from your specific experience, though!
- jvojak 5y agoHey, thanks for the feedback. I am not that good of a writer, the bullet point title is probably more generic than I wanted. There were more specific things, such as, that I lost probably more time on finding out which payment/subscription solution suits me and my country the most, how to write privacy policy and terms and conditions the proper way, how to decide whose idea or workflow is the best, why I regret using specific bootstrap theme and so on... But, it seemed to me like I couldn't find a proper way to categorize those topics and it would be all over the place. I am still learning how to properly organize my articles, so I really appreciate the feedback.
- blunte 5y agoWhy make the effort to write something and then give it to a platform which will hide it? Sorry, can't read it. Logged in, but apparently I've foolishly clicked on one too many essays which are locked in Medium.
- jvojak 5y agoHere's a friendly link - https://medium.com/codex/11-things-i-have-learned-from-creating-my-own-saas-bfcc0c212214?sk=97eeffa96939e93689aedf4e107f80a9 https://medium.com/codex/11-things-i-have-learned-from-creat...
