So far nobody could show that it can compete with standard high-speed trains, how those by far largest vaccum chambers are supposed to be maintained and protected, or how the metal tube's massive temperature-dependent expansions are going to be handled. Those are huge engineering challenges and all they seemed to focus on so far are some public partnerships and interior designs. Musk was wise to get off that train.
