Orlando mayor asks residents to conserve water due to Covid oxygen shortage
- SomeHacker44 5y agoTL;DR: liquid oxygen is used to treat municipal water AND to help COVID patients breathe.
- jcranmer 5y agoWell, to be precise, ozone is used to treat water. However, ozone is not a molecule that's stable enough to be shipped by itself, so industrial uses of ozone requires synthesis on the spot. And the way you synthesize ozone is by zapping a pure oxygen atmosphere with electrical arcs. You can't use regular air, because the nitrogen in air tends to form nitrogen oxides instead, so you need the pure form of oxygen--which in industrial quantities is shipped as liquid oxygen.
- readonthegoapp 5y agooh god, conservatives gonna be running all their taps, hoses/sprinklers, set the toilets to continually flush/never fill, do anti-rain dances, etc. the gop party has been trying to kill us all -- in reality, not theory -- for the last ten+ years, and now they've dialed it up. they want your kids, first, and they're getting them. and they're gonna get all of us soon if we don't figure out how to reign in this nihilism.
- dang 5y agoPlease don't do this here.
- readonthegoapp 5y agoi like posting on HN, but it can't come at the cost of not criticizing 'the most dangerous organization in world history'.
