A lot of that dead wood is sitting on a hillside* with approximately 45 degree slope, more than 300 feet from the nearest fire/logging road. It's possible to harvest it, but the cost/reward ratio is not very good, and the wood is likely not high quality at this point. There's also just a tremendous amount of it. Not quite "boil the ocean" hard but walking in that direction. *Really rough, rugged mountainous terrain, that most ski resorts would love to have
