You've had momentary racist episodes? Does that happen frequently?
- jessaustin 5y agoYes that was explained in the immediately preceding paragraph: "As a white person", I have been accused of racism. Off the top of my head, I can think of three instances over the course of my life; there may have been others.
- 0xdeadb00f 5y agoThat does strike me as a bit odd. I don't think I've ever experienced anything like that nor have I met anyone else prone to do that. I hate to assume, and i mean no offence by this, but is something like this indicative of a mental illness? I can't imagine why else someone would be prone to have something like that happen to them.
- moistly 5y agoAnd you have not? I suppose I might believe you’ve never used “gypped” (c.f. Gypsy, which is itself a derogatory term for Roma)—if you’re quite young or don’t live in North America. I know I used it, up until I learned of its origin; now I try to avoid using it. Learning is fun.
- 0xdeadb00f 5y agoI'd hardly call that a "racist episode".
- moistly 5y agoI’m sure the Roma disagree, but I suppose you might not care about their opinion.
- 0xdeadb00f 5y agoYou misunderstand me, that's on me I should've been more clear. It is racist for sure - I would never deny that. But it isn't what I'd describe as an _episode_ of racism.
