As someone who is research-active in this area: The differences between graphs and hypergraphs are wildly overblown in this article. A hypergraph can be represented as a graph using a Poincare-style duality. This is not something esoteric, it's even in the Wikipedia page on hypergraphs. As someone who is research-active in the area: I applaud and welcome their propaganda ;)
