When I saw Starship Troopers in theaters as a pre-teen, I was super pumped about fighting bugs as I left the theatre with my then friend. Funny how my perspective changed as I got older. I thought he'd mentioned Anchorman cause Ferrell's gimmick for a good minute in the late 00s/early 2010s was parodying these traditionally masculine, patriarchal roles with his emotional manchild schitck that so many have seemingly derived their acts from (Tim Robinson and Eric André come to mind) and shortly after, or perhaps concurrently, the new wave of feminism took hold.
