OnlyFans bans sexually explicit content to appease banks and payment services
- 1270018080 5y agoAre investors and payment services upset because they're just stuffy conservatives who don't want their name near sex work? Or are there extra liability or legal issues that go along with being apart of that industry? It's VC, where greed goes above all else. I figured there'd be at least ONE firm who'd be more than happy to rake in the money.
- reilly3000 5y agoThere is a very high chargeback rate for elicit materials - i.e. “Honey of course I don’t recognize that charge, I’ll call the bank right now”. There is also a non-zero amount of liability with hosting/selling child pornography when user-generated content is able to be uploaded. Age verification is imperfect at best online. Porn is massively popular on the web but our entire society is wont to deny it. It would take a cultural shift towards acceptance of sex work for there to be a change in the financial dynamics of payment systems for it.
