Show HN: Wurkbuk digital worksheet management for teachers and instructors
- allears 5y agoI may be way off base here, but wouldn't the blatant misspellings in the product name be offensive to teachers?
- kowusu 5y agolol, thanks for the input. Never thought of that. But as a teacher myself, it didn't occur to me. Also, I've seen worse! I was hoping it would be so off the mark that people would guess that it was a product name. Also, wanted it to be unique enough to search for people looking for it. There are lots of "Workbook" type websites out there, so hopefully mine will stand out. But your point is definitely something I will think about and will ask other teachers. So far, no one else has mentioned it, but maybe I haven't asked enough people.
- kowusu 5y agoHi All, Not seen many k12 edtech projects showcased here, but would love some feedback on what you all think. I came up with the idea for Wurkbuk when I was a classroom teacher and made an early prototype using Google Apps for Education and Google apps scripts, with a bit of js and html. I used this in my classes for about 3 years as I wasn't happy with VLEs for k12 at the time (Google Classroom, edmodo, moodle etc). I wanted something that was more geared towards teachers, powerful enough for classrooms, but not too complicated. Just launched the Beta 3 of the new version (totally different from the early prototype!), so thought I would share on HN. If there are any educators (k12 or not) in here, would love to hear your thoughts. If not, then your opinion is still valued. Feel free to check out the info site (wurkbuk.com) for more background, or the youtube videos on how it's used (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLq0jpXq780-TKPoqyaa-44Hb65SVNS29L https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLq0jpXq780-TKPoqyaa-4...). I linked the demo site on the url, as it is already populated with fake students and assignments and stuff. I know you guys are gonna be honest, so have at it :) Thanks
