On the other hand, all their past controversial ideas were reasonable from the financial point of view: introduce non-standard connectors, remove the minijack, make the hardware non-upgradeable and so on. All these things were bad for consumers, but good for Apple's bottom line. This one is bad for everybody. Apple's management is not stupid, they must have a good reason.
