We're not quite at a point where we could re-bootstrap all industrial technology using only renewable energy and recycled materials, but that might be achievable some time this century. It would be nice if every machine more than 50 years old had to have its manufacturing (and testing) instructions released, even if the resultant tech-tree ends up being quite unwieldy.
