CSV in general is terrible. CSV in particular is great. Most people only deal with CSVs in particular: this set of CSVs output from that process. Writing code that can accept and parse arbitrary CSV files is a whole different thing. If I had to do that, I'd be yelling too. Similar story can be said for JSON, markdown, etc, where standard is inadequate, non-existent, or in mutual competition.
