I agree here as well. Criticism of linux here is like condemning Jesus at times. I just use windows cause it's easy and everything almost always works on it.

- fsflover 5y agoNobody doubts that Windows works flawlessly on Windows-certified hardware. Same with Linux (on Linux-certified hardware). As a bonus, you get no tracking and no adware in the latter.
- MeinBlutIstBlau 5y agoWindows works better on custom PC's than linux thats for sure.
- fsflover 5y agoIf you take "random" components, there is a very high change that they are Windows certified but not Linux-certified. In this sense, you are right. But if you chose hardware working with Linux, you will have no problems with running it.
- swozey 5y agoI'm a contrib on a bunch of nix projects and people are shocked when I tell them my home desktop "chill machine" is windows. I do work dev on osx. I had so many problems with my 16" macbook running my 49" monitor I threw it all into void linux desktop w/ kvm and gpu passthrough. A whole lot of work to use osx on a machine that doesn't constantly throttle, but not enough work for me to justify spending $3-5k on the apple hardware I need. And honestly I hadn't used nix on the desktop in years, almost all of the apps I needed work natively - the Zoom client even looks exactly like the OSX/Windows zoom. I'm slowly de-osxing myself.
- MeinBlutIstBlau 5y agoYeah when I get done with my day, the last thing I care about is the OS I use. The hilarious thing is I've getting downvoted for my previous comment about Linux. So many HN people live in a bubble. Windows works. Period. It also has all the software on it as well. So might as well not fight an uphill battle just because I like to use / instead \.
