I always feel like time I spend making estimates is wasted time I could be spending coding, or doing something actually productive. The more time you spend on estimates (breaking it down, detailing, etc) is more time you are not being productive. Managers seem to love estimates, but IMO it's better to just have priorities, sprints, and just do as much as you can in those sprints. I understand sometimes you need to know how much sometime takes in order to prioritize stuff, in which case you can just say it takes a lot of time, a little time, or "medium" time. Estimating is particularly annoying when you have to read someone else's code first in order to estimate.
