I like it too. I really enjoy knitting together data feeds from a bunch of different sources. I like using the ` character to deal with bizarro database headers that were imported from spreadsheets where people used strange characters or SQL syntax in column names. I like parsing JSON trees to pick out key value pairs according to odd patterns, getting the first nine characters of the names of a bunch of csv files on a website and adding whatever is new in them to a database where the column names are the first nine characters plus some other stuff. And so on. A lot of people find this hellacious, and for some reason, I kind of like it. I read once that to be a good general practitioner physician, you have to kind of like dealing with bad breath and... well, it was a disgusting sentence, and you get all the info you need from the first half, so no need to take it further. But in a similar way, I kind of like totally messed up data sources.
