Tell HN: MS Teams is censoring screenshots from MS Mail
How to reproduce:
1. open the Mail app that comes pre-installed in Windows 10.
2. Take a screenshot of an email message where the subject, sender and receiver are visible.
3. Try to attach the screenshot to a MS Teams message.
4. You will see an error stating that the image could not be uploaded.
5. Now take any other screenshot, e.g. a screenshot from Mozilla Thunderbird.
6. Attach the Thunderbird screenshot to a MS Teams message
7. This time, the screenshot will be attached without errors.
So, it seems the best email client to use in conjunction with MS Teams is Thunderbird :-p
- a3n 5y agoI wonder if you can get around this by saving in different image formats.
- rolph 5y agoit seems you can get around it by not using the preinstalled MS mail application, for the time being, as suggested by points 5;6;and 7
- eicnix 5y agoI wonder wether this is actually intentional or just a bug in how screenshot information is saved.
- mastazi 5y agoIf I take the screenshot in such a way that only the email body is shown, but not the area where the sender and receiver addresses are shown, then the upload is successful. So, I believe they are using some form of image recognition algorithm when you upload the screenshot to Teams.
