To 60 year olds experience barriers for job opportunities due to ageism
- dave_aiello 5y agoLots of people in mid-career who are technologists are experts in use of systems that are declining in importance. The question is, can those people learn skills and become experts in systems that are in greater demand? But what does "reluctance among workers to learn new skills" mean for people whose jobs are not as technology-related? Are they referring to auto and truck mechanics whose skills are with maintaining and repairing combustion engines being reluctant to learn the skills for EV vehicles?
- Bostonian 5y agoIn the title, should "To" be "Do"?
- greenyoda 5y agoBased on the article, it should probably be "45 to 60 year olds...". HN's algorithm removes leading numbers from titles, sometimes with bad results.
- hi41 5y agoThank you! I did know about this idiosyncrasy of HN. Indeed, I remember putting 45 in the beginning. This is kind of ironic since I am 47 and do not know how to correctly use HN.
