Scottish Government seeks to make many emergency coronavirus powers permanent
- tinus_hn 5y agoThey can’t even wait for the pandemic to be declared a permanent state..
- cybert00th 5y agoIf we're honest with ourselves then we'd have to admit this was going to happen. After all, no government voluntarily downsizes itself,so it follows that they wouldn't let go of powers they gave themselves to deal with it.
- _Wintermute 5y agoJust incase HN isn't aware, GB news is basically Fox news of the UK, or the daily mail on television. I would be very sceptical of anything they say.
- jjgreen 5y agoTrue enough, here's the BBC's slant on the same story: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-58244323 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-582...
- guilhas 5y agoCurrently the only channel that is capable of inviting 2 people with completely opposing opinions, and make a nice debate. On any current news: gender, environment, politics, covid, etc... Not like all others channel giving, and insisting, on a one sided opinion, and debaters just agreeing with each other It is actually refreshing
- rojeee 5y agoI think this is a bit unfair. I actually enjoy watching GB news. They touch subjects mainstream channels won’t and the debates are usually quite balanced. Furthermore, all of the presenters are transparent about which way they lean politically.
- iammind 5y agoSo as expected from this news source the headline and spin is misleading. The source for the article is a consultation ( https://www.gov.scot/news/covid-recovery-consultation/ https://www.gov.scot/news/covid-recovery-consultation/ ) on the transition out of current covid measures the "retained powers" are also not exactly novel and simply bring Scotland into line with the other parts of the UK
- hamburgerwah 5y agoNothing more permanent than a temporary increase in government power
