US social media firms face new challenge in Afghanistan

It makes no sense to me that Twitter is OK with radical Islamic terrorists using their platform but banned Donald Trump. Now Twitter and Facebook may let the Taliban take over the Afghan government social media accounts (https://www.forbes.com/sites/abrambrown/2021/08/17/twitter-facebook-taliban-social-media-accounts/ https://www.forbes.com/sites/abrambrown/2021/08/17/twitter-f...).
- new_guy 5y agoAs an intelligence source it would be invaluable, see their IP addresses, locations, who they're talking too, what they're saying, their social graphs, what else is on their devices, etc. It's probably better to keep all that under American control rather than just 'banning' them for optics. Although as we've just seen that intelligence is almost certainly not acted on or taken notice of.
