And in particular: "The study found that clearing forests for oil palm plantations like the one above in Sabah, Malaysia, was the leading cause of deforestation in Indonesia and Malaysia during 2001 and 2015." For North America, the major cause of deforestation was timber logging and forest fires. The only place where cattle ranching has a major role in deforestation is in Brazil, and even in that case is not 90% of the cause as you imply above.
