The lengths of games aren't the worst they've ever been, but yes they are too long. The lengths went up as players and reviewers complained about paying $60 for a game that's 8 hours long. People really wanted to get 40 hours of story driven gameplay out of that $60. I find it absurd the lengths that games are padded to in attempts to appease this crowd. It ends up causing the game to be a slog if the padding isn't optional.
