- h2odragon 5y ago> According to the report, which was published in June in the online journal Scientific Reports, minks, civets, raccoon dogs, and other mammals known to harbor coronaviruses were sold in plain sight for years in shops across the city, including the now infamous Huanan wet market, to which many of the earliest Covid cases were traced. I don't think that's actual new news tho.
- salawat 5y agoStill doesn't explain how a Pangolin coronavirus RBD ended up on a backbone of a strain of bat coronavirus from a mine in Guangdong along with a conveniently placed Furin cleavage site unprecedented in any known naturally circulating strains of coronavirus. Unless they're trying to argue containment is so bad that viruses they know they've sequenced regularly end up circulating in the wet markets, and they figure said viruses were comingled there, which is still one heck of a stretch. That's just me though.
