Anytime anyone expresses a thought critical of China, it inevitably provokes whataboutisms. It’s not a particularly compelling argument, about on the level of a guilty chid complaining about other kids not getting punished. I think a proper response should be ‘black sites are bad,’ not ‘well, others did it so have a carte blanche to do it, too.’
