Ask HN: Linux distro based on Docker images?
I've stumbled upon a distro where you set up your system as a stack of Docker images, possibly on a discussion here regarding NixOS.
Does that ring a bell with someone?
- DataWraith 5y agoWas it RancherOS? > RancherOS is the smallest, easiest way to run Docker in production. Every process in RancherOS is a container managed by Docker. This includes system services such as udev and syslog. Because it only includes the services necessary to run Docker, RancherOS is significantly smaller than most traditional operating systems. https://rancher.com/docs/os/v1.x/en/ https://rancher.com/docs/os/v1.x/en/
- lambdaba 5y agoThank you, but this is not it. It was an end-user distro, just used Docker images instead of a normal package manager.

- lambdaba 5y agoIt was Darch but this fits the bill as well, thanks!

- simon_acca 5y agoYou are welcome! For completeness, since all the other “functional” distros that I know of were mentioned in the thread, there’s also: https://distr1.org/ https://distr1.org/
