- grandinteg3 5y agoThe masses do not support the Taliban. The speed at which they took over is not a reflection of the support they have on the ground but more a function of the fear they instil in people. My family and many others fled to Kabul when fighting started in Mazar-e-sharif, people are terrified. You have to remember that the Taliban were in power for quite some time prior to the US, images of public executions and floggings are still fresh in our minds. You'd struggle to find anyone supporting these barbarians.
