Apparently this is what Einstein has been documented saying:
"...the supreme goal of all theory is to make the irreducible basic elements as simple and as few as possible without having to surrender the adequate representation of a single datum of experience."
So I guess the supposed quote is paraphrasing.
- Y_Y 5y agoIt's certainly got the same vibe. I certainly don't want to begrudge Einstein credit here. If you have the dubious honour of knowing physics and German, then reading his work (e.g. [0]) will leave you in no doubt that he was a shining exemplar of this principle.
