Job opening at U.S. Embassy in Kabul
- kaptain 5y agoInteresting that compensation is vague for such a high standard of qualification.
- michaelhoffman 5y agoGiven that spouses and domestic partners of U.S. employees posted abroad have preference for hiring here, they might have someone in mind already.
- HWR_14 5y agoI'd love if compensation was more transparent in job postings, but that surprises you?
- traceroute66 5y agoI assume "date posted" is the date when someone copy/pasted that onto Daybook and not the date the job ad was posted by US ? Otherwise the applicant might find themselves interviewing themselves for the position !
- akiselev 5y agoJob Description: The US Embassy in Kabul is looking for an outgoing individual to serve as the face of our institution. If this job sounds like a fit for you, then click on the ‘apply’ button below to join the evacuation! Good luck!
- runawaybottle 5y agoAs an interested applicant, I noticed these negative Glassdoor reviews that paint a very different picture: ‘Don’t work here, you will die. Startup environment, so fast paced. Great if you want to die young and get the experience, but run if this isn’t your first death wish’.
- potiuper 5y agoThere is no flag at the US embassy and the top US diplomat has left. This posting is out of date. https://www.bbc.com/news/live/world-asia-58219963 https://www.bbc.com/news/live/world-asia-58219963
- cushychicken 5y agoThe NYT reported this morning that the US embassy at Kabul has now been completely evacuated. The skeleton crew left has been relocated to the international airport. https://www.nytimes.com/live/2021/08/15/world/taliban-afghanistan-news https://www.nytimes.com/live/2021/08/15/world/taliban-afghan...
- the-dude 5y agoHave you considered that is exactly the reason why it is here on HN? Would it have been newsworthy if the embassy was up, functional and working as intended?
- upofadown 5y agoPretty sure that parent poster was pointing out that this was an unamusing and obvious coincidence, and thus not worthy of a post.
- robot_no_419 5y agoI am about to blow your mind with this crazy thing called "situational irony"
- pcbro141 5y agoMust onboard remotely until it's safe to return to the office.
