This article makes it sound like psychology is built around simplistic correlations and misleading statistical conclusions from poor experiment practices and poor understanding of rigorous statistics. The author called this “complexity” but what she describes is simply a field that has an inability to identify all the lurking variables and an inability to deal with causality from a huge set of factors. However fields like statistics and artificial intelligence already can deal with this, but the author - a psychology professor - doesn’t recognize that. It makes me think that the field of psychology - as a body of knowledge but also as a collection of practitioners who represent it - simply lack the necessary skill sets and rigor to be actual experts in psychology.
