This situation is only the logical conclusion of the unholy pact Apple customers have signed with the company. You don't own your iPhone - Apple gets to decide what it runs, how it runs. You don't get to decide what apps you can run, they do.
So now they altered the agreement. And they can because you bought a device that you agreed you wouldn't own.
