Why women lose the dating game (2012)
- distant_hat 5y agoThis is a somewhat disingenuous way of looking at it. The dating game, over men and women is either win-win or lose-lose. What the article is saying is that women in their 30s and above are losing but missing out on the reality that at the same time the majority, if not the vast majority, of men are losing in their teens and twenties. Personally, a lot of this doesn't matter if people give up on exclusive relationships.
- rbanffy 5y ago> people give up on exclusive relationships. The stability seems to be good for raising kids. If that’s the goal, it’s harder to reconcile it with multiple non-exclusive relationships.
- rbanffy 5y agoIt’s an interesting observation. The outcomes mentioned are inevitable because of the way market value is assigned differently to men and women. When I separated from my first wife, I suddenly found myself with an extremely high “market value”, which was in equal parts fun, puzzling, and terrifying. The latter was because the pool of women accessible ranged from pairs and extended down in age into women with so much less experience that I feared I would not resist to behave in the unethical ways described in the misogynistic character from the article.
