Did I read that correctly, that Federighi claims you need to upload at least 30 pics of known child porn before the system alerts Apple? That’s so confusing. He came out to apologize and give peace of mind to the “casual users” of child pornography?
- hackinthebochs 5y agoYeah, that was strange. But it is probably a recognition of the relatively high probability of false positives on a per-picture basis with the system they've built. Having the threshold so high is probably necessary to ensure their stated false positive rate given the implementation (something around 1 in a trillion according to another article). But still, publicizing a hard number like that seems counter productive to the goal of keeping child porn off of Apple systems.
