  This misses the essence of bike shedding to me. It can be a sub category of procrastination but it isn't procrastination itself. My take is that bike shedding is focusing on and possibly inventing a task because you enjoy that task, at the expense of something else more pressing. I find that the anecdote is useful occasional to bring it up when it is happening without seeming like a jerk
