I just moved to a house in Florida that has mango trees. At least 2 varieties in fact. The 2 taste and feel so entirely different they could almost be different fruit. Point being I'm not sure there is a way to cast a general attitude for mangos, let alone from a certain region. Its almost certainly the specific cultivars rather than the region that you don't care for.
