I mean one way to teach this class would be to simply cover current events in an over the top, biased way and then discuss the tricks used and concerns.
(Maybe students get credit for credibly challenging anything mentioned in the class)
- mariodiana 5y agoI taught high school for a hot second. I think the approach you suggest would be terrifically engaging for students. Teach them the tricks and make a game of trying to fool one another by setting up two competing teams of "news media," print and talking heads. Essentially, you're teaching them informal fallacies.
- mc32 5y agoI agree this would be a great tool. But I hesitate to think how they will overrun reddit and other places with their newfound tricks to dupe the olds.
