Not saying for everyone in this situation, but for many people who find themselves not have enough savings to survive a year or two without working. How do these people end up here in the first place? Why so many people living in the most prosperous country in the world saving nothing for themselves? Why people over spend so much and live so much beyond their means? How and when would people take some serious responsibility for themselves? I bet that you find much less first-generation immigrants in this situation, even though they make much less income and are in much more disadvantage in every part of their lives. Think about that.
