Toyota Lets Farmers Pay for New Trucks with Corn or Soybeans in Brazil
- acchow 5y agoWould anyone prefer to use this? Presumably you would get a better price for your corn on the open market?
- simtel20 5y agoIs a gimmick. If a wealthy farmer can brag that he bought his Hilux for a bag of beans and rice, then he can drink on that for a long time.
- throwaway0a5e 5y agoAh, that makes perfect sense now that I think about it. Toyota has perfected charging people a premium to let them pat themselves on the back for being financially savvy (you need a chainsaw to cut irony that thick). They are also not known for creative or permissive buying/financing options, the opposite really. This is just a localized version of the former masquerading as the latter.
- smabie 5y agoDoes toyata charge a premium? I feel like they sell mostly really cheap cars?
- mucholove 5y agoThey sell for a super premium in countries like Dominican Republic. These vehicles are so much better than pretty much any brand. Take any SUV and compare it with an equivalent Toyota—you’ll get a giant markup—5-20K. The Hilux and the Land Cruiser are bulletproof. (Land Cruiser tops out at like 160-180K USD I think)
