“Ice Age”, climate change documentary narrated by Leonard Nimoy (1978)
- melling 5y ago“During the lifetime of our grandchildren…” That’s now. Climate change deniers often point to stories like these from the 1970’s. Heck, many Americans won’t even take the Coronavirus vaccine. Don’t expect humans to do enough to avoid some amount of climate change
- aww_dang 5y ago>(00:12:30) The climatic record in these deep sea cores tells us that there have been eight ice ages in the last 700,000 years. It also tells us when they have occurred. This provides us with a test of various theories of the ice ages. We now have a theory that tells us that changes in the shape of the Earth's orbit act as a pacemaker for the ice age succession. Since this theory can precisely predict when ice ages occured in the past, it also can predict when ice ages will occur in the future. From this theory we can say with confidence that we are currently heading towards another ice age. Dr. James D. - scotty79 5y agoWe should probably keep some CO2 sources like unburnt fuel for the next 1500 years in case we need it to stave off next ice age. It would be funny if we managed to stop global warming with something radical like raising Earth albedo while burning coal and such as usual only to have nothing to burn to make CO2 to keep the Earth warm as it tries to go into next ice age in a thousand years or two.
