What if this is, in fact, a good thing? This AI-obsession allows employees to game the system, play around the rules and optimize for the metrics that can be easily discovered. That is terrible, but is it any worse than the current state of corporate politics, where privileged people form their own clubs and prevent anyone else from joining? The AI, at least, doesn't see color, gender, sexual orientation, what hobbies you like or you don't like. The machine, as long as you play by its rules, is fair. And I seem to prefer the machine rules, than the rules at the boys club.
