Heck they can launch with credit cards on board that have chips in them, those also have a private key, you give it some data, it returns a digital signature of this data, signed using a private key on-chip which can't be modified. It'll be a different use case for encryption, but I guess a unique signature is not guessable that one could use that as an encryption key...
